Interntown is part of Translation Central, a document and website translation company with its own foreign language research department. It is run by the same people who run Upstream Connections, a search engine optimisation and internet marketing company with a very wide range of clients, and Language Trainers, a corporate language training company offering virtually all languages in nearly every major city worldwide. All 3 of these companies started around 3 years ago and have seen extremely rapid growth, particulary enhanced by the widespread use of interns from a wide range of countries to manage administration, sales, accounts, marketing, design, and research projects. Our interns have come from Colombia, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Pakistan, Rwanda, Slovakia and Spain and have all been university students with advanced level English and a background in business studies, translation, IT or marketing. |
| Why did we start using interns? |
We started recruiting our first interns in 2002 after we encountered bright, young, enthusiastic, hardworking, English-speaking students eager to gain work experience and ready to come to England to take on the tasks and projects that we thought would never get done. We were concerned about what they would actually be able to do but were certain that, out of respect, they would be taking on roles that would both make them proud and look good on their CVs. We used up some of our empty office space, dedicated the time required to manage them, and quickly found that our interns had become indispensable members of our company.
It therefore has come to a point where we realised the need to establish a portal for interns eager to work and for companies to find bright and hardworking interns. Right now Interntown enjoys strong links with universities in Germany, Spain, Italy, France and Poland. Our site receives a lot exposure atthese universities, which in turn guarantees a high level of quality of interns available.
